Daily Routine for Gumnuts

In our infant/toddler group we aim to preserve the child’s routine as far as possible. We consult with parents about individual needs for sleep and nutrition. Therefore, not all children sleep and eat at the same time. Children have bottles as required. Becasue we encourage breast feeding, Mums are most welcome to come in to the room to feed their babies or to bring in expressed milk which ever suits their needs. Food is pureed where needed and children are encouraged to feed themselves when able. Discovering independence can be an exciting and messy time!

We also have a basic group routine so that the older children can pace their day. This gives them a feeling of security in knowing what to expect.

Between their routine times, the children play in an environment set up according to the program developed from observations of the children’s needs and interests and information from parents.

Most of the time, the children can choose to be indoors in the playroom, on the verandah or outdoors in the playground (weather permitting).  Out the back is a concrete path ideal for bike riding and plenty of space to run and play with balls. Sometimes we hang up the washing or visit the Possums in their playground.
